Pin Cushions Galore

I love making little decorative pin cushions!  They make great gifts, AND if made a little larger and out of appropriate fabrics, make wonderful toys for toddlers.

I found a great turtle pin cushion over at Craft Passion -- she shows how to use basic hexagon quilting pieces to turn into this turtle and says if you'd like her handdrawn pattern pieces you can contact her directly and she'll email them to you.

Isn't that just the cutest little fella???

Check out the butterfly pin cushion at Patterns2Go while you're surfing for pin cushion patterns.

Butterfly Pin Cushion Pattern

Both of these patterns can be enlarged somewhat, made out of appropriate children's fabrics then stuffed with crinkle material and fiberfill stuffing to make great toddler toys!  I've done the turtle, butterfly and an elephant in large size toddler toys for my quadruplet grandchildren.  They never tire of playing with them and doing the "squeeze" to hear the crinkle.
