Clean Out Your Closet And MAKE Money

OK!  I'm on a roll now!!!  This "clean out your closet" project has just about turned into a career for me!

Along with all the older clothing garments that I've taken out, done either minor alterations on or no alterations at all, gave them a good washing to get the dust off the shoulders, etc, I've also been stacking up a bunch of clothes that I for sure KNOW I won't be wearing again!  These are clothes that friends gave me years ago that I really didn't like to start with so just stuck them in the back of the closet, or ones that I'd found on such a good sale years ago that I just couldn't pass up -- and if my brain had been in gear I should have known that great deals are bad deals if I really was not 100% sold on the garment when I bought it.

At any rate, I'm sure that by now you probably have a pretty good stack of clothes getting higher and higher that won't be going back into the closet - whether they fit or not!

Now, here comes the next project ---- get yourself a copy of  "How To Make Cash From Your Crafts" and "Nursery Room Projects" and start looking through them to find projects you can make using the fabric from that stack of clothes that won't be finding their way back into your closet.   Even Patterns2Go has all kinds of crafty ideas and patterns that can be made out of those old garments.

Before you begin to cut the garments up, be sure to cut off all buttons, take out zippers, remove hooks and eyes, and anything that can be reused and put them into a container for use at another time.

The stack of garments you have on one side, never to be used again, can be used to make toddler garments, children's toys, placemats, little back packs, hot pan holders, kitchen aprons, and the list goes on and on.   You could possibly find yourself with enough sewing and craft items that your entire Christmas gift list could be finished way ahead of time.   Talk about making money AND saving money at the same time!!

The one thing I have noticed about those older garments that have been pulled out of the closet --- they do not make good yard sale items!  I've tried it!!!  And adult clothing items just don't sell --- unless you're doing one of those "stuff a paper grocery bag full for 50 cents" type of thing.   And when you're doing that, you're just helping somebody else get a stack of clothing garments purchased just for the fabric in them, and THEY will be doing exactly what I've told you about earlier in this post.

I'd love to hear about your sewing and crafting projects from those old clothes!!
