I LOVE The Internet

I'm sure that everyone will agree that they're very thankful for the internet and immediate access to anything and everything.

Back in 1975 when the first copies of the original Sarah's Key To Pattern Drafting book rolled off the printing presses, the only means of getting the word out about it was print advertising in various sewing and craft magazines.  Then again in 1996 when my husband wrote his first two books, Sewing Machine Repair For The Home Sewer and Serger Repair For The Home Sewer, once again the only means of getting the word out was by print advertising.  We'd take out full page advertising spaces in several magazines (one at a time and spaced several months apart because they were not cheap to run!) and sit back and wait for the magazines to hit the news stands and be mailed to the subscribers to get orders.

WHOOHOO!!!  Today we have several different websites, ranging from regular pattern making classes to our BigBeautifulPeople.com site where we have pattern making classes and information for plus size and full figure women.  In addition we have our sewing machine repair site where our sewing machine, treadle and serger books are located.  We have a large variety of craft, sewing, knitting and childrens patterns at Patterns2Go.com.

In this age of "I want it now" is the ability to have a good number of our classes, patterns and books available for immediate download for our customers.  WOW!  How much better is that than for us to wait several months for the magazines to actually get to the customer, then the customer has to wait for the orders to get to us and be filled and mailed back out.

AND, thank you to Pay Pal for the service of printing mailing labels!!!  How clearly do I remember taking boxes filled with book orders to the Post Office to have each one weighed and labeled (even though usually we'd have two or three dozen that were all orders for the Sewing Machine Repair for the Home Sewer, which all were identical, but had to be weighed individually).  People behind us would groan, shuffle their feet and make little "under their breath" comments, but at that time we had no choice in how to do the mailings.   Today we can print the labels directly from Pay Pal for those orders that couldn't be immediately downloaded by the customer -- take the pre-paid packages to the post office and hand them across the counter to the clerk.  Or, just drop them off at a post office drop box or simply give them to the postman when he comes by to deliver the mail.  How easy is that!!!

I believe I need to repeat the message of today - thank you for the internet.
