Make A Doll From An Outgrown Baby Sleeper

I've just discovered how to make the most wonderful "soft" baby doll ever!  Small toddlers want (and need) to have their own baby doll, yet most of the baby dolls on the market have the plastic heads that could potentially harm a child if they were to trip and fall on the doll.

Baby Sleeper Doll

Materials needed:

1 outgrown infant sleeper
1/4 yd of fabric for hands and head
Polyester fiberfill

Cut small mitten-shaped hands from the fabric.  Sew 1/4" seam around the hands, leaving the wrist area open.  Turn right side out.  Stuff with polyester fiberfill.  Sew the mittens to the cuffs of the sleeper sleeves.

Sew all sleeper openings closed except the neck. Stuff the sleeper with polyester fiberfill.

Make a  circle approximately 4" in diameter for the head.  Cut 2.  Sew all around, leaving a small opening for the neck.  Turn head inside out and stuff the head with fiberfill.

Sew the head securely to the body at the neck opening.  Add facial features using permanent markers so there won't be any buttons to pull loose.

The head can be left without hair, or attach a few strands of yarn for hair, or make a small hat for the baby, which would then be stitched securely to the baby's head.

Your child or grandchild will simply love the soft sleeper baby, and you will know that the child won't get hurt while playing with this special baby doll!
