Summer laundry would be much easier if........

If it weren't for the grass stains, mildew,  ice cream and other stains!  These stains will be much less of a problem IF they are treated when still fresh!  Don't just throw them into the laundry basket to be washed in a few days with the other clothes.  Pre-treat them, then get a load together and get the stained garments taken care of immediately.

For grass stains, rub a paste of detergent into the stains then launder as usual.

Ice cream contains fat, so start by pre-soaking in cool water with soap or detergent.  Launder as usual, and if the stain remains, sponge again with a dry cleaning solvent and rewash.

Mildew is a mold which eventually attacks fibers so treat it as soon as possible.  Rub soap or detergent paste into the stain, launder in the hottest water safe for the fabric and color, and dry in direct sunlight if possible.

Deodorant and antiperspirant stains often can be removed from washable garments by rubbing with liquid detergent, then laundering the item in the hottest water safe for the fabric.

Soil lines around collars and cuffs and small stained areas can be pre-treated by dampening the area and rubbing with a paste made of detergent granules and water or a liquid detergent or a bar of soap.  Heavily soiled articles and those that have yellowed from body oil will benefit from a pre-soak before washing.  Dissolve a pre-soak product or laundry detergent in the soaking water.

With all these little grandchildren running around, I'm doing laundry nearly every day anyway, so pre-treating their stains immediately has become an automatic thing around our house.
