Sewing With Bed Sheets
Bed sheets seem to be a big deal lately for making craft items, curtains, quilt backings, etc. Well, exactly how much fabric are we talking about when we see "use a double size bed sheet" or "a twin size sheet will work very well for this project"? I guess we could stop and look through a catalog to get the sizes of the various sheets, but with a little research I found this little chart:
Twin flat sheet = 3 1/2 yards of 45" wide fabric
Double (full) flat sheet = 4 1/2 yards 45" wide fabric
Queen size flat sheet = 5 1/2 yards 45" wide fabric
King size flat sheet = 6 yards 45" wide fabric.
Now I haven't personally done the measuring, but since I discovered the little chart I figured it would be worthwhile to pass along just in case any of you may be thinking about using some sheets for various projects.
You may want to print out this page, cut out the yardage chart and tape it into a little notebook so it would be readily available the next time you want to start one of those "bed sheet" projects.
