Children's Growth Chart

Little ones just grow so fast and seemingly change every single day!  Our little 2 1/2 year old quadruplet grandbabies and "almost 4" big brother are certainly in that category.  Each time they come, they're saying something new, doing different things, etc.

A "growth chart" is something that we started with the "big brother" --- only we used a pencil mark on a door frame.  Now how smart was that - especially now when we're ready to do some repainting of the house.

I ran across an idea for a growth chart that is extremely easy and quick --- and much better looking than the marks on the door frame.

Cut a piece of durable fabric 12" x 40".  Hem the top and bottom -- shirt tail hem at the bottom, and a hem at the top big enough to insert a dowel (about 1/2" hem).  Sew a tape measure along one edge and decorate the remaining fabric with cutouts from nursery fabrics.  The appliques that you've cut out from nursery material can be fused to the growth chart with "wonder under" material.

If you want to be extra fancy, you can embroider the child's name at the top and perhaps his/her date of birth.

Insert a dowel in the top hem and attach a cord for hanging.  This little growth chart would make an excellent gift for the newborn baby in your family, or for a friend's baby shower, etc.
