From plain to fancy with scraps

I forgot to add my picture yesterday to show an example of how you can go from plain to fancy just by using some scrap fabric and trim.  I cut lengths of the checked fabric 2" wide, made a scalloped edge along one side, then sewed it on, then used some leftover trim to add to the decoration.  The little flower was made by using a 12" length of the scalloped fabric - use a running stitch along the straight edge, then gather it tightly to make the circle flower.  It was attached to the dress with a matching button I found in my "salvage" button container.
