Save all of your fabric scraps

Always save all of your fabric scraps - the pieces can be used for doll clothes, patchwork quilts and for appliques for other garments.  The flowers from one piece of fabric remnant would make excellent applique designs on a blouse, skirt or jacket.  The same thing applies for butterflies or small animals from children's fabric - use them as appliques on other solid color garments.  To make appliques out of any fabric design, iron some "Wonder Under" to the back.  Trim around the design to be used for the applique, then peel away the wonder under backing and iron the design to the new garment, or onto wall hangings, children's playhouses, etc.  Another idea for using scrap fabric and trims is to dress up children's clothing.  Take a simple child's jean skirt or jumper and sew some trim on it, add a little scallop trim to the hem or add a flower applique to the skirt.  The ideas for using the scrap fabric and trims is endless.
